This ‘Norman Finistere’, just west and south of Cherbourg, conceals in the smallest hamlets and all along its coastline mossy houses, poetic little churches, shallow valleys fading into misty distances; a coastline sometimes marked by seemingly limited dunes and gleaming beaches reflecting the sky, sometimes by sharply defined granite outcrops.

Day 1: Arrival Cherbourg
Day 2: Transfer after breakfast then LANDEMER – AUDERVILLE 21 Km
Transfer in the morning by taxi to take you to the start of the hike at the hamlet “le Landemer” near Urville-Nacqueville. Ridge of dunes, edge of fields, coastal path and cliffs to the smallest port in France, Port Racine, then along the ocean to Goury and Auderville, a village at the end of the Cotentin.
Distance: 13 miles/21 kms
Day 3: Port Racine – Biville
After the magnificent bay of Ecalgrain, passage to the Nez de Voidries, to the Nez de Jobourg, a nature reserve for seabirds, alternation of coastal paths, pastures and cliff edges to the dunes of Biville Then still via the path of coastline, you will reach Vauville then Biville.
Distance: 14 miles/23 kms
NOTE: On this stage, there are 8 to 10 km of trail with lots of loose stones, where you have to watch carefully where you put your feet.
Day 4: Biville – Les Pieux
Begin this stage overlooking the Biville dunes, before continuing to Clairefontaine and on to the port of Dielette. After Flamanville pass by the ancient hamlets of Le Courtois and La Coquaise. Rejoin the coastal path as it passes over the cliffs and zig-zags above the sea.
Distance: 23kms/14 miles
Day 5: Les Pieux – Barneville
At low tide there is a possibility of shortening the route a little. Otherwise follow the coastal path via Rozel with its chateau and church. Continue to the Cape of Rozel and the statue of the Madonna of the Sailors. Then take the path, the track known as the Trompe Souris (followed by a passage over the dunes) before coming to Surtainville. Continue via the villages of Beaubigny and Hattainville to the Cape of Carteret and Barneville.
Distance: 15.5 miles/24.5 km
Day 6: Barneville – Denneville
Crossing the port of Barneville-Carteret then passing between the campsites before ending up on the coastal path by the sea, along the dunes. Crossing Le Havre de Portbail by the old bridge with thirteen arches and arriving at the foot of the Portbail church.
Transfer at the end of the day from Portbail to Cherbourg. End of the stay the same evening upon arrival of the transfer in Cherbourg.
