The Tatra Mountains National Park (TANAP) is the largest and the oldest protected area in Slovakia, founded in 1949. The national park contains more than 100 alpine lakes and several waterfalls.
The largest and deepest lake of the High Tatras is Velke Hincovo pleso. The most frequently visited are Strbske pleso and Popradske pleso. This multi day hike is suitable for those who desire to explore this unique park from an authentic view and have some experience in mountains.

You will walk up to beautiful valleys, saddles, and mountain meadows. The mountain panorama offers an astonishing view of peaks, lakes, and waterfalls with beautiful colors during sunrises and sunsets.

The High Tatra National Park is the largest and most important Natural Reserve in Slovakia. With its challenging hikes and breathtaking views, it rivals any mountain range in the world. Though compact, the peaks and landscapes are monumental – with 35 valleys, over 90 lakes and crashing waterfalls into impressive gorges. One hundred and fifteen species of birds, 42 mammals, 8 reptiles, and 3 amphibians – among them Branchinecta paludosa, the Three-toed Woodpecker, the Ring Ouzel, Spotted Nutcracker, and others. Mammals are represented by, for example, the European Brown Bear, Alpine Marmot, and the Tatra chamois. Unique High Tatra flora – almost half of the park is covered with forests, mainly spruce and fir and about 1,300 species of vascular plants, of which 37 are endemic to the Tatras, 41 are endemic to the Western Carpathians. The trip is situated in the central part of the High Tatras Mountains on the Hrebienok plateau at an altitude of 1200 metres, which is the best starting point for mountain walks. You will have great views around the mountains and enjoy nights in the shadow of Mt. Slavkovsky, the highest accessible peak in the High Tatras.
